By Ashley Douglas,

It was an interesting rookie season for NBA center Jahlil Okafor this past year. As the 3rd pick overall in the 2015 NBA Draft, the Philadelphia 76ers were hoping to boost their ailing roster by selecting the top prospect from Duke. During the 2015-2016 regular season, Okafor played in 53 of the regular season games with Philly, who did not make the playoffs. During those 53 games, Okafor averaged a very respectable 30 minutes, 17.5 points, 7 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game. His field goal percentage was impressive at 50%, while his 3 point shooting and free throw percentage lagged behind somewhat at 16.7% and 68% respectively.

Game 5 of the NBA Finals will now be played without Finals MVP candidate, Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green, due to total accrual of flagrant points. What put Green over the top and earned him a one-game suspension was a flagrant 1 assessed for his role in an altercation with LeBron James late in Game 4. This was Green’s fourth flagrant foul point of the 2016 playoffs (good for automatic suspension) and on Sunday the NBA announced the decision to suspend him without pay for the pivotal Game 5.

UConn rode that momentum into the NCAA tournament winning the national championship winning most outstanding player of the tournament. Striking while the iron was hot Walker announced his intention to declare for the NBA draft forgoing his senior season. The then Charlotte Bobcats then made Kemba Walker the 9th pick of the 2011 NBA draft. From there, things get a little rocky.

By Brianna Pleasant,
It was no surprise that former LSU forward, Ben Simmons, was going to declare for the draft after his freshmen season. He acquired great reviews in his first year and had been admired by scouts since the minute he stepped foot onto the campus. It is probably even less of a surprise that the young prospect is expected to be one of the first players drafted for the upcoming NBA season. Will Simmons talent and game translate well into the pro’s?
