According to NCAA.com, The Division I Men’s Basketball committee unveiled their predictions for the Sweet 16 for March Madness, on CBS this afternoon. They have the defending National Champions, the Villanova Wildcats, on top as the first seed, and have Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils, 16th. In between those teams are the likes of schools such as North Carolina, Louisville, and the currently-ranked number 1 team in the country, the Gonzaga Bulldogs. With the tournament a month away, and the regular season still currently ongoing, it’ll be interesting to see how accurate the committee was with their choices, and how everything ends up playing out.

Three teams in the Top 4 lost on Tuesday night shaking up the top 4 seeds once again for Bracket 68. #1 Villanova, #2 Kansas, & #4 Kentucky all lost on the road which will drop Villanova and Kansas out of a number one seed. The one constant comes from the best team in the west, 20-0 Gonzaga, remains the only undefeated team remaining. We’ll also look at the 2 teams to get hot, 4 higher seeds to lose early, and well look at the Mid Major of the week that involves a 50 point performance.

By Ryan Rocklin,

When discussing who’s going to win the NCAA Tournament, most people mention Duke, UCLA, and Kentucky, but a few mid-major teams are making noise heading into March. The five best mid-major teams are Gonzaga, Saint Mary’s, Valparaiso, Wichita State, and Monmouth. These five teams have proven themselves this year and they continue to do so. Out of these five teams, my top pick to be a threat in March Madness is Gonzaga. I would have chosen Saint Mary’s before Thursday, but after losing to UT-Arlington by 14 points, the Gaels don’t look ready to compete in March.
