The Downfall of New York Basketball!

New York City is known as the mecca of basketball. The birth of basketball was here. Madison Square Garden is known as the most famous basketball arena in the world. The Nets in New Jersey were a proud franchise that went to back-to-back finals in the early 2000’s. In Brooklyn the team got off to early success with two straight playoff appearances, but since then have been one of the worst teams. The Knicks haven’t made the playoffs in four years. The Nets are worst team in the league, and haven’t made the playoffs in two years. How did this happen? New York is supposed to represent success and wins. Both teams now are amongst the worst in the league. So how did they fall so hard, and how do they get back up to the top?

Hi everyone and welcome to the NBA Power 7 Weekly through December 4th 2016. It was a crazy week of upsets and noteworthy plays for the highlight reels. Amongst all the outstanding performances, there are seven who stand out above the rest. Let’s get right into it!

The Era of New York City basketball in the NBA has been disappointing and dysfunctional for the past previous seasons. Both the New York Knicks and the Brooklyn Nets have very underachieving teams and are currently at the bottom echelon of the NBA’s Eastern Conference. Simply put, the Knicks and Nets have been flat out embarrassing. However, this off season is a huge opportunity for both teams to improve the talent on each team’s respective rosters from top to bottom. With the NBA’s salary cap increasing during the summer, teams will have more cap space to sign free agents at reasonable prices. This give both franchises hope for the future.
